diabetes

In Ghana, the prevalence of adults with diabetes is expected to double from 500,000 in 2010 to nearly one million by 2030. According to the Ghana Health Service, diabetes rates have increased steadily, registering as the 10th leading cause of death from 2004–2006.

Hypertension

The World Health Organization’s most recent estimate of the prevalence of hypertension in Ghana is 27.3 percent — over one-quarter of the country’s adult population. Regular blood pressure checks can aid in detection and prevention.

Malaria

The control and eradication of malaria demands a multifaceted approach. Insecticide spraying and long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets help to prevent the transmission of the infection, but no preventative strategy is 100% effective. The World Health Organization recommends first-line treatment for most malaria cases with artemisinin-based combination therapy. These medicines, in addition to diagnostics, are able to treat and in some cases, prevent malaria.

COVID 19: community Outreach

As concern about coronavirus (COVID-19) grows, The Jemimah Noonoo Foundation is working hard to prepare, educate and protect our chosen community. We are focused on: prevention, preparedness and communication. To also ease the burden on the community we are sending PPE (Masks, gloves, hand sanitizers) and medications to healthcare workers and services in the local community. Help our mission by making a donation today.

More information on COVID-19 in Ghana can be found at the Ministry of Health.

The road to health,

A healthy Step in the right direction.

We’re providing access to quality healthcare and preventative medicine to ease the burden of disease on

the Anomabu community. During “The Road to Health Fair” we will provide our community members with

clinics that screen for treatable illnesses and that offer solutions for prevention and management.

HYPERTENSION screening/Treatment

Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood around the body. High blood pressure is a condition where blood pressure rises and stays high for an extended time. After thorough screening, Anomabo patients were provided with consultation and a treatment plan.

MALARIA screening/TREATMENT

Malaria is a serious and sometimes fatal disease caused by a parasite that infects a certain type of mosquito which feeds on humans. Early and accurate diagnosis of malaria is essential for both rapid and effective disease management and surveillance. Patients in Anomabo with symptoms were tested and taken for consultation and treatment.

DIABETES screening/treatment

Diabetes is a serious condition that causes higher than normal blood sugar levels. To diagnose diabetes, we tested blood sugar levels after recommending that patients fast for a night. Testing helps us detect the disease early so we can develop a treatment plan to help manage the patient’s condition.
